National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program
  • $5 billion (2022–2026) allocated to states to build a national network of EV chargers, primarily along designated Alternative Fuel Corridors.

  • Covers up to 80% of eligible project costs, including acquisition, installation, operation, and maintenance of EV chargers.

  • States must submit annual deployment plans to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation.

  • 10% of NEVI funds are reserved for additional assistance to states and localities needing extra support

Charging and Fueling Infrastructure (CFI) Discretionary Grant Program
  • $2.5 billion (2022–2026) for competitive grants to deploy EV charging and alternative fueling infrastructure.

  • Two subprograms:

    • Community Charging and Fueling Grants: For chargers in publicly accessible community locations.

    • Corridor Charging and Fueling Grants: For chargers along designated corridors.

  • Eligible applicants include states, local governments, and certain public entities, with awards ranging from $500,000 to $15 million per project

Charging and Fueling Infrastructure (CFI) Discretionary Grant Program
  • State-Specific Grant Programs

    • California: Caltrans’ Charging and Fueling Infrastructure program. More info here.

    • Washington: State-level grant programs for EV charging infrastructure through NEVI.

    • Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, West Virginia: Multi-state projects funded for corridor charging infrastructure. Check out here.

City and County Programs
  • Palo Alto, CA: Rebates up to $80,000 for schools, non-profits, and multi-family properties to install EV chargers. Link

  • Seattle, WA: Per-port rebates for Level 2 and DC fast chargers, with extra incentives for environmental justice communities. Link

  • New Orleans, LA: Free publicly accessible EV chargers via a city-administered pilot program. Link

  • Naperville, IL: $500 rebate for the installation of a Level 2 or direct current (DC) fast charger. Link
